Principles of Law Enforcement

posted by .

After seeing a story on the local news about a police officer suspended for allegedly using excessive force to quell a disturbance at a night club, you decide to write a letter to the editor of your local paper. In a short letter, examine the importance of law enforcement being held accountable for any abuse of the public’s trust and faith. Suggest measures that might be instituted in your community to keep such incidents from occurring in the future.

    This is a ridiculous assignment.

So the local news reports an ALLEGED use of force by a police officer. Remember that the officer is presumed innocent unless a court finds him/her guilty.

Is it possible that someone accused him/her unfairly and unjustly?

I wouldn't comment on this news story until all of the facts were proven in court. The letter you might write might question the news story.
