Reflection on Learning in this Unit:

I feel confident about my ability to introduce and develop a claim because I now understand the importance of clearly stating my position and providing reasons to support it. It can be challenging to acknowledge an opposing claim because it requires me to consider different perspectives, but I recognize the value in doing so in order to strengthen my argument. One strategy for organizing my reasons and evidence logically is to create an outline before writing my essay. In order to figure out whether a source that I’ve found is credible, I can evaluate its author, publication date, and supporting evidence. One way to remember to check for cohesion in my argument is to read my essay aloud or have someone else read it to identify any parts that may be confusing or disjointed. If I am not sure that my conclusion maintains a formal style, I can review examples of formal language and revise my conclusion accordingly.
