QUESTION 1 (15 MARKS)

2. Include in the report any of the codes of conduct that you have been exposed to in your MM
and write a short (no more than 500 words) code of conduct for the inclusion of human values
in AI.

In my Master's program, I have been exposed to various codes of conduct that are applicable in the field of AI. These codes promote ethical behavior, responsible development, and safeguarding human values. One of the most prominent codes of conduct is the ACM Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. The ACM Code provides a set of principles and guidelines for computing professionals to follow, emphasizing the importance of promoting the public good and avoiding harm.

The ACM Code addresses the inclusion of human values in AI by emphasizing the need for transparency, accountability, and fairness in the development and deployment of AI systems. It also highlights the importance of respecting privacy, autonomy, and dignity of individuals, and avoiding biases and discrimination. However, considering the evolving nature of AI, it is necessary to have a dedicated code of conduct specifically addressing the inclusion of human values in AI. Therefore, I have formulated a code of conduct below:

Code of Conduct for the Inclusion of Human Values in AI:

1. Transparency and Explainability:
AI systems and algorithms should be transparent, explainable, and provide clear and understandable reasoning for their decisions or actions. Users and stakeholders should have access to information about the underlying data, algorithms, and decision-making processes to ensure accountability.

2. Fairness and Non-Discrimination:
AI systems should be designed and developed to be fair, unbiased, and free from discrimination. Particular attention should be given to identifying and mitigating biases in training data, algorithm design, and implementation to avoid adverse impacts on individuals or groups based on attributes such as race, gender, age, or ethnicity.

3. Privacy and Data Protection:
AI systems should respect and protect the privacy and personal data of individuals. Any collection, storage, and use of personal data must comply with established privacy laws, regulations, and best practices. Necessary measures should be implemented to ensure data security and prevent unauthorized access or misuse.

4. Robustness and Safety:
AI systems should be designed and developed to be robust, reliable, and safe. Appropriate measures should be taken to identify and mitigate potential risks, vulnerabilities, and unintended consequences associated with the use of AI. Continuous monitoring, testing, and evaluation should be conducted to ensure the system's safety and adherence to defined standards.

5. User Empowerment and Autonomy:
AI systems should be designed to empower users, enhance their decision-making abilities, and respect their autonomy. Users should have the right to control and customize the AI system's actions, provide feedback, and have the option to opt-out or disengage from its use.

6. Social and Environmental Responsibility:
AI systems should consider the wider social and environmental impacts they may have. Developers should strive to create AI systems aligned with sustainable development goals, promote social justice, and avoid actions that may lead to harmful consequences for society or the environment.

7. Continuous Learning and Improvement:
AI developers and practitioners should engage in continuous learning, research, and professional development to stay updated with the latest developments in AI ethics and best practices. They should actively participate in knowledge-sharing platforms, communities, and collaborate with stakeholders to continuously improve the ethical design and use of AI systems.

This code of conduct aims to provide a framework for AI practitioners and organizations to guide their actions and decisions concerning the inclusion of human values. Adhering to these principles will help ensure that AI technologies are developed and deployed in a manner that aligns with societal values, respects individual rights, and promotes the welfare of all stakeholders involved.
