Name and explain two laws that protects citizens against Gender base violence in our country
1. Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 - This law was enacted to provide protection to women who are victims of domestic violence, which includes physical, sexual, verbal, emotional and economic abuse at the hands of their husbands, in-laws or any male relative. The act ensures that women have the right to a safe and violence-free life, and provides legal protection to victims by offering various remedies, such as restraining orders, protection orders and monetary relief.
2. Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 - This law was enacted to protect women against sexual harassment at the workplace. It mandates every employer to form an internal complaints committee to deal with complaints of sexual harassment, and also lays down the procedure to be followed for conducting inquiries and taking action against the accused. The act aims to create a safe and secure environment for women in the workplace and to ensure that they are not subjected to any form of harassment or discrimination.
