Aversive racism

Aversive racism refers to a subtle and frequently unintentional form of prejudice where individuals may not hold explicitly negative beliefs about a particular racial group, but still possess negative feelings and attitudes towards that group. Aversive racists may believe in equality and support diversity in principle, but still harbor implicit biases and act in discriminatory ways towards people of other races. This form of racism can manifest in behaviors such as avoiding interactions with individuals of other races, making subtle and negative comments, or treating members of other racial groups differently in social or professional settings. It is often more difficult to identify and address than overt forms of racism, making it a challenging issue to combat.
