Aversive racism meaning

Aversive racism is a type of covert or subtle racism where individuals may consciously believe in and support equal rights and opportunities for all races, but still harbor unconscious negative feelings and stereotypes towards members of certain racial groups. This form of racism manifests in behaviors such as avoidance of interactions with people of different races, discomfort or unease in racially diverse settings, and subtle expressions of bias or discrimination. Aversive racism can be more challenging to address and combat compared to overt forms of racism.
