Watercolors for Liam

Since Liam was a young boy, he enjoyed drawing pictures. He would pick up a crayon and start scribbling on every blank surface he saw. By the time he was 10 years old, Liam decided that he wanted to go to art school and train to be an artist after he graduated from high school.
Liam was good at sketching, but his joy was painting because of the colors that filled dull, black-and-white sketches with life. He had a special sense for exactly which colors needed to be mixed to achieve the perfect shade. Liam's art teacher, however, told him that he needed more practice with watercolor. Liam was comfortable with his talent, content in areas he excelled; therefore, he dismissed his teacher's advice and avoided watercolor.
Liam could draw wonderful pictures of his friends and was often praised. When a school art competition was announced, Liam was the first to sign up. All of Liam's friends and Liam were confident he would take first place.
As Liam began to set up his space for the competition, he learned that the project was a watercolor. He dreaded the outcome, began to paint, and worried the entire time about his lack of experience in this area. It was not a bad painting, but he knew he was capable of much better. He promised himself he would never overlook his weaknesses again and decided to work with watercolors for the next few months to master his art.
