What is the function a stigma

In the context of plant reproduction, the stigma is the receptive tip of the female reproductive organ called the pistil. Its main function is to receive and recognize pollen grains during pollination. The stigma is often sticky or has hairs that help to capture and hold the pollen grains. After pollen lands on the stigma, it germinates and grows a tube that enables the sperm cells to travel down to the ovary, leading to fertilization and the formation of seeds.
