State the objectives and scope of EACOP

The objectives of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) are as follows:

1. To transport crude oil from the oil fields in Uganda to the export terminal in Tanzania.
2. To contribute to the economic development of both Uganda and Tanzania by creating job opportunities and generating revenue.
3. To enhance regional integration and cooperation between Uganda and Tanzania in the energy sector.
4. To ensure safe and efficient transportation of crude oil, minimizing the risk of environmental damage.
5. To promote energy security and diversification by supporting the export of Uganda's crude oil to global markets.

The scope of EACOP includes the following aspects:

1. Construction of a 1,445 km long pipeline from the oil fields in Hoima, Uganda, to the port of Tanga, Tanzania.
2. Installation of associated infrastructure, including pumping stations, storage facilities, and export terminals.
3. Compliance with environmental and social safeguards to minimize the impact on local communities and ecosystems.
4. Adherence to international standards and best practices in the design, construction, and operation of the pipeline.
5. Collaboration between Uganda and Tanzania, as well as with international partners and investors, to ensure successful implementation of the project.
