When the Mongols came to power, they established the largest contiguous empire in history, known as the Mongol Empire. The Mongols were skilled in warfare and conquest, and they rapidly expanded their empire by conquering and assimilating various regions and civilizations. They implemented a highly efficient administrative system, promoted trade and cultural exchange, and enforced a Pax Mongolica, bringing stability and security to the Eurasian landmass. However, the Mongols also imposed heavy taxes, enforced strict rule, and carried out violent massacres, leading to the destruction and death of many cities and populations.
