How did the Phoenicians’ willingness to travel far for trade eventually lead to the spread of their civilization?

My answer: When the Phoenicians traveled to trade, they made colonies that later became powerful cities. As they were trading, they began spreading their culture and economy. Greece and Rome were influenced by the Phoenicians culture, such as using their alphabet. Because of this, more people could learn how to read and write from the Phoenician alphabet. Even when the Phoenicians civilization fell, there culture was still being used.

I'm here to check my work. Is this correct? If not, may someone help me out? Thanks :)
