I have measured surface tension of 0.1Maqueous solution of sodium dodecyl sulphate through stalagmometer.... The answer is 162 dynes/cm (great or than surface tension of water 72dynes/cm).... is this correct??

I am confused since the surfactants lower the surface tension but I got a big answer....

From Google:

"Image result for do surfactants lower the surface tension of water
The cohesive forces between the water molecules are very strong making the surface tension of water high. As surfactants absorb they break these interactions. The intermolecular forces between surfactant and water molecule are much lower than between two water molecules and thus surface tension will decrease.Jun 26, 2018"
