I have some physics problems that I would like to get checked please?
1.Can something have energy without having momentum?
-No, it can have P.E. and no K.E., however if the object has no K.E. then it doesn’t have no velocity therefore it has no momentum.
3. If a 20 kg object fell to the surface of the Earth from a height of 30 m, what would its final velocity be? (work this problem from the standpoint of linear motion.)
-I got 24.23 m/s
4. If a 20 kg object fell to the surface of the Earth from a height of 30m, what would its final velocity be? (work this problem from the energy standpoint.) Should you get the same answer as you did in question 3? (This one I am not too sure)
-I got 39.60 m/s
1. Yes, if the energy is not kinetic
3 and 4
In both cases V = sqrt(2gH)= 24.2 m/s
