Lending Is for the Banks

by Audge Podge

Sosha quickly learned never to lend her things out. She has learned her lesson one time too many. Last month, she let her "best" friend Tina borrow one of her dresses. Tina not only kept it for two months but also gave it back with a big grape juice stain on it. Last week, Sosha let her brother borrow her Guitar Legends CD only to have him return it scratched up beyond repair.
But Sosha didn't see the harm in letting Damian borrow a pencil from her in math class the other day. His being cute didn't help her judgment at the time. After they were given their math quiz, she couldn't believe her eyes when Damian scratched his nose with the eraser and started chewing on the middle part of the pencil. He chewed deep teeth marks into it. Even more disgusting, he tried to return the slobbery writing utensil to her at the end of class. Regardless of his cuteness, chewing on her belongings was so NOT cute. Thus, she said exactly what she was thinking: "I thought you asked to borrow a pencil, not a chew toy!"
