Both Cambodia and Rwanda experienced severe human rights violations, including genocide, but with different underlying causes. In Cambodia, the Khmer Rouge regime under Pol Pot led to the genocide of nearly 2 million people through forced labor, executions, and torture, in an attempt to create a communist utopia. In Rwanda, the genocide was perpetrated by Hutu extremists against the Tutsi minority, resulting in the deaths of an estimated 800,000 people. Both cases highlight the devastating consequences of ethnic and political tensions when left unchecked by the international community.
