I chose to do further research on the Nat Turner Rebellion. In August 1831, Nat Turner, a slave and preacher, led a rebellion in Southampton County, Virginia, where he and a group of slaves killed around 60 white people. The rebellion was quickly suppressed, but it sent shockwaves through the South, as slave owners feared similar uprisings. Turner's revolt highlighted the brutal realities of slavery and the constant threat of resistance from enslaved people, leading to stricter laws and harsher treatment of slaves in an attempt to prevent further rebellions.
