Terrace farming - In the Andes, people constructed terraces on the mountainsides to create flat surfaces for planting crops. This allowed them to farm in the steep and rugged terrain of the Andes, where flat land is limited. Terrace farming also helped prevent erosion and conserve water in an area with unpredictable rainfall.
