Use this data for #1,2,3

Student Group A: 56, 14, 26, 28, 29, 45, 32, 80, 3, 10

Student Group B: 27, 24, 18, 19, 5, 16, 22, 10, 6, 20

1. Find mean of group A and B (tenth) and find their difference

2. Find range of each student group and tell which group is more inconsistent

3. Find the median of each student group, (tenth if needed) and find their difference in medians

4. A large company wants to find the favorite animal of their employees…would surveying every 5th women who uses the copier, be a random, representative sample?

5. 50 students are randomly selected and 4 own cats. If there are 800 students, how many of them own cats?

1. Mean of Group A: (56 + 14 + 26 + 28 + 29 + 45 + 32 + 80 + 3 + 10) / 10 = 28.3

Mean of Group B: (27 + 24 + 18 + 19 + 5 + 16 + 22 + 10 + 6 + 20) / 10 = 17.7
Difference in means: 28.3 - 17.7 = 10.6

2. Range of Group A: 80 - 3 = 77
Range of Group B: 27 - 5 = 22
Group A is more inconsistent as its range is larger.

3. Median of Group A: 28 + 29 / 2 = 28.5
Median of Group B: (18 + 19) / 2 = 18.5
Difference in medians: 28.5 - 18.5 = 10

4. Surveying every 5th woman who uses the copier may not be a random, representative sample as it may introduce bias as certain groups of women may be more likely to use the copier more frequently.

5. If 4 out of 50 students own cats, then the proportion is 4/50 = 0.08.
If there are 800 students, then 0.08 * 800 = 64 students own cats.
