One piece of literature from this semester that I identified strongly with is "The Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger. The theme of alienation and disconnect resonated with me as I often feel isolated from those around me. One detail from the selection that supports this theme is Holden Caulfield's constant criticisms of phony behavior in others which mirrors my own aversion to insincerity and superficial interactions.
