Males are more likely to express the recessive trait if it is carried on the X chromosome because males have only one X chromosome, so they only need one copy of the recessive gene to exhibit the trait. Females, on the other hand, have two X chromosomes, so they would need to inherit two copies of the recessive gene to express the trait.
