Choose your favorite style and think about the characteristics that make it unique. Sketch your own building. Be sure to incorporate some of those characteristics as well as your own ideas. Write the name of the style that inspired you on your sketch and a short paragraph explaining why you chose it. Scan or take a picture of your sketch with your label and paragraph and submit it to your instructor.
I chose to sketch a building inspired by the Art Deco style. Some of the key characteristics of Art Deco include geometric shapes, bold colors, and decorative elements. I incorporated these features into my design by using sleek lines and symmetry, as well as adding intricate patterns and motifs on the facade. I also included a grand entrance with a dramatic staircase, which is a common feature in Art Deco buildings. I find Art Deco to be a visually striking and luxurious style that exudes elegance and sophistication, which is why I chose to base my sketch on it.
