For the topic of Oregon's choice to reduce educational standards, the power to change this issue ultimately lies with the state government officials responsible for education policy. These individuals have the authority to make the change because they are elected by the citizens of Oregon to represent their interests and make decisions on their behalf. The change I would like to see is a reversal of the decision to reduce educational standards, specifically in terms of curriculum requirements and testing standards. If this change was implemented, students would receive a higher quality education that better prepares them for college and the workforce, ultimately leading to a more competitive and successful society. This change matters to me because as a student, I believe in the importance of a rigorous and comprehensive education system that challenges and motivates students to succeed. I would like to see this change made within the next academic year, as it is crucial to address this issue promptly in order to prevent long-term negative effects on the quality of education in Oregon.
