1. Stages of simple goiter:
- Stage 1: Initially, there may be no symptoms and the thyroid gland may enlarge slightly.
- Stage 2: As the goiter progresses, the thyroid gland may become visibly enlarged and may be felt as a lump in the neck.
- Stage 3: In some cases, the goiter may continue to grow and cause symptoms such as difficulty swallowing or breathing, hoarseness, and a feeling of pressure in the neck.
