defenition of National Recovery Administration

The National Recovery Administration (NRA) was a federal agency established by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933 as part of the New Deal to promote economic recovery and alleviate the effects of the Great Depression. The NRA aimed to stimulate industry by encouraging fair competition, setting minimum wages and maximum work hours, and establishing codes of fair labor practices. However, it was eventually declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court in 1935 due to concerns over its regulation of interstate commerce.
