Cuba is officially classified as a communist state with a one-party system, led by the Communist Party of Cuba. While Cuba does hold elections, they are tightly controlled by the government and political opposition is severely restricted. Many international organizations and governments consider Cuba to be a dictatorship due to the lack of political freedoms and human rights abuses in the country.
