I'm having trouble understanding the slope

The slope of a line is a measure of how steep the line is. It is defined as the change in the y-coordinate divided by the change in the x-coordinate between two points on the line. In simpler terms, the slope tells you how much the y-coordinate changes for every unit increase in the x-coordinate.

For example, if the slope of a line is 2, it means that for every 1 unit increase in the x-coordinate, the y-coordinate increases by 2 units. If the slope is -0.5, it means that for every 1 unit increase in the x-coordinate, the y-coordinate decreases by 0.5 units.

You can calculate the slope of a line by selecting two points on the line and using the formula:

slope = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)

Where (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) are the coordinates of the two points on the line.
