Sarah sat alone in her room, the sound of her parents arguing downstairs seeping through the walls. Tears streamed down her face as she clutched a bottle of sleeping pills in her hand. She had been feeling overwhelmed for weeks, suffocated by the pressure of school, friends, and her own insecurities.
All she wanted was for the pain to stop. She felt like no one understood her, like she was drowning in a sea of sadness with no lifeline in sight. She had thought about ending her life before, but tonight the thoughts felt stronger, more insistent.
As she stared at the pills in her hand, she felt a surge of fear and uncertainty. What would happen if she went through with it? Would anyone even notice that she was gone? Would they care?
Just as she was about to twist open the bottle, there was a knock on her door. Startled, Sarah quickly hid the pills under her pillow and wiped her tears away. Her little brother, Jake, poked his head in.
"Hey, Sarah. Can I come in?"
