Write a narrative about a female office worker who deals with social anxiety on her first day of work. Through the power of another co-worker, she learns to help deal with her social anxiety and also make a friend. Intended for 8th grade.

Sarah sat at her desk nervously tapping her foot, her hands clammy and her heart pounding. Today was her first day at the new office job and she was already feeling overwhelmed by all the new faces and the unfamiliar environment. She struggled with social anxiety, making it difficult for her to interact with others and form connections.

As she sat there, trying to calm her racing thoughts, a friendly voice interrupted her thoughts. "Hey there, I'm Emily. Welcome to the team!" Sarah looked up to see a young woman with a warm smile standing by her desk. Emily seemed confident and outgoing, the complete opposite of Sarah.

Despite her anxiety, Sarah managed to smile back and introduced herself. Emily could sense Sarah's nervousness and immediately took her under her wing, offering to show her around the office and introducing her to their colleagues.

Throughout the day, Emily stayed by Sarah's side, helping her navigate through the introductions and small talk. She even shared her own experiences with social anxiety and reassured Sarah that it was okay to feel nervous.

As the day went on, Sarah found herself feeling more at ease and even started to engage in conversations with her co-workers. Emily's presence and support made a world of difference for her, and she was grateful to have found a friend in her.

By the end of her first day, Sarah felt a sense of accomplishment and relief. She realized that with the right support and understanding, she could overcome her social anxiety and thrive in her new job.

As she packed up her things to head home, Sarah thanked Emily for everything. With a newfound confidence and a newfound friendship, she was ready to face the challenges ahead and build a brighter future for herself.
