Music: Read this page completely before completing composition. For this composition portfolio assignment, you will use either Finale NotePad (link to download) or any other free web-based option such as Flat io or MuseScore to write your composition. These other options can be found and selected with the help and approval of your learning coach through a web search. I have students who have used both of these and they work great for completing the compositions. Some students choose to hand-write their composition on staff paper which can be found HERE. In your composition:

1) Include a minimum of 16 measures.
2) Include a tempo marking in BPM.
3) Include at least two dynamic markings.
4) Use a pitched instrument (not a drum).
5) Your melody should move mostly stepwise with a few leaps have a peak (one note that is higher than all the others).
6) End on the tonic note. (The letter that your key signature shows).

Once you have completed your composition, submit a PDF or a screenshot of your composition in your portfolio. Make sure to write a short paragraph explaining your composition, including the title, genre, mood, and any inspiration behind it. Make sure to also address how you met each of the requirements listed above in your composition. If you have any questions or need assistance, please reach out to your learning coach for help. Have fun creating your music composition!
