What are the total emotional needs of the dying person?

6. How are you as a CNA going to assist in this process or help others in this process? How will you help your peers or the resident's family?

The total emotional needs of a dying person may include:

1. The need for support and comfort
2. The need for reassurance and understanding
3. The need for open communication and honesty
4. The need for a sense of closure and peace
5. The need for acceptance and validation of their feelings
6. The need for connection and companionship

As a CNA, I can assist in this process by providing compassionate care and emotional support to the dying person. I can listen actively to their concerns and fears, offer a calming presence, and provide comfort through physical touch or by simply being there for them. I can also communicate effectively with the resident's family and provide updates on their condition, as well as offer support and guidance to the family members as they go through this difficult time. Additionally, I can collaborate with my peers to ensure the resident's emotional needs are being met, and offer support to them as well as they navigate their own emotions in caring for the dying person.
