In which areas of the world are people at risk for HIV infections?

People in developing countries, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, are at high risk for HIV infections. Other areas of the world where people are at risk include Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Within these regions, certain populations such as men who with men, injection drug users, sex workers, and transgender individuals are particularly vulnerable to HIV infections. Additionally, marginalized and disenfranchised populations, including migrants, refugees, and prisoners, are also at increased risk for HIV.
