Most of the major battles of the Civil War had taken place in the cities, industries, and farms had to be rebuilt in this era known as men and women who had once been enslaved were known as

freedmen and freedwomen. The Reconstruction Era was a time of great change as the United States worked to rebuild and reunite after the devastation of the war. Freedmen and freedwomen faced many challenges in this period, including securing their rights as citizens, finding work and housing, and reuniting with family members who had been separated during slavery. Despite these challenges, many freedmen and freedwomen were able to establish themselves as successful and contributing members of society during the Reconstruction Era.
