In the story "From Behind the Veil" by Dhu’l Nun Ayyoub, Siham says,"And then I submit when I realize that most of the other women I see, whether rich or poor, wear the veil. It is not merely middle-class or uneducated women—it is the requirement of respectable people generally" (Abu-Lughod 861). I think she has negative feelings about the Veil because it is not traditional and people will judge her. I also think she feels that the veil with restrict and oppress society's expectations on how women should dress.

In the story "From Behind the Veil" by Dhu’l Nun Ayyoub, Siham expresses her thoughts by stating, "I reluctantly conform when I notice that the majority of women I observe, regardless of their financial status, choose to wear the veil. It is not just limited to those in the middle class or with limited education—it is a norm for respectable individuals in general" (Abu-Lughod 861). It appears that she holds pessimistic views towards the Veil due to its nontraditional nature and fears potential societal judgment. Additionally, she seems to believe that the veil imposes restrictions and enforces society's standards for women's attire.
