Melkor, also known as Morgoth, is a character in J.R.R. Tolkien's fictional Middle-earth legendarium. He is the main antagonist in Tolkien's works, particularly in "The Silmarillion." Melkor was once the most powerful of the Valar, but he rebelled against the will of Ilúvatar, the supreme deity of Tolkien's world, and sought to dominate Middle-earth. He is responsible for much of the evil and suffering in the world, and is defeated by the combined efforts of the Valar and the Elves.
