Many of Horacio Quiroga's stories are set in the jungles and rivers of Misiones, a province in northeastern Argentina where he spent much of his life. He often drew inspiration from the diverse landscapes and wildlife of the region, using them as backdrops for his dark and atmospheric tales. Additionally, Quiroga's stories are sometimes set in the rural areas of Uruguay, where he was born and raised.
