The tribes that lived on the eastern side of Washington were primarily Plateau tribes. This region includes the Columbia Plateau, which was inhabited by tribes such as the Nez Perce, Yakama, and Palouse. The Coastal tribes, on the other hand, lived along the coast of the Pacific Ocean and did not inhabit the eastern part of the state.
