In order to extract resources in 1960, the British needed a large supply of heavy machinery and industrial equipment. This equipment would have been necessary for mining, drilling, and other extraction processes. Additionally, transportation infrastructure such as trucks, trains, and ships would have been required to move the resources from the extraction sites to processing facilities and markets.
