1)x squared + 5x + 6 = 0 This can be factored to produce (x +2) (x + 3) This gives you two values x = -2, -3 2) I determine which method to use just by looking at the equation. I ask myself if it is a perfect square or something that I can easily do inside my head. If it is not, then I think of completing the square. If that seems that it will be too time consuming or the numbers are just too big; I use the quadratic formula.
