Resource scarcity, like not having enough food or water, can lead to competition among organisms for those limited resources. For example, in a forest, if there is only a small amount of nuts available, squirrels will compete with each other to gather as many nuts as they can to survive. This competition is necessary for the survival of the organisms because those that are better at finding resources will have a better chance of living and reproducing. In this way, resource scarcity drives competition which ultimately determines the survival of organisms in an ecosystem.
