Why did Henery VIII come into conflict with the pope?

Henry VIII came into conflict with the Pope primarily because he wanted to annul his marriage to Catherine of Aragon in order to marry Anne Boleyn. The Pope, however, refused to grant him an annulment, as it went against the teachings of the Catholic Church. This led Henry to break away from the authority of the Pope and establish the Church of England, with himself as the head of the church. This act, known as the English Reformation, was a major turning point in English history and led to significant religious and political changes in the country.
