Egypt made peace with Israel in 1978 in large part due to its desire to gain back the Sinai Peninsula, which Israel had occupied since the Six-Day War in 1967. Additionally, Egypt was facing economic hardships and needed assistance from the United States, which was a strong supporter of Israel. Other Arab countries eventually followed Egypt's example because they saw the benefits of peace and cooperation with Israel, such as access to technology, weapons, and improved diplomatic relations with the United States. Furthermore, the Arab League's decision to end the Arab boycott of Israel in 1993 also played a role in encouraging other Arab countries to make peace with Israel.
