Water itself does not need salt to create life. While salt is essential for life on Earth and plays a role in many biological processes, it is not necessary for water to support life. Life can exist in freshwater environments where salt is not present. In fact, the origins of life are believed to have begun in freshwater environments before organisms adapted to survive in saltwater environments.
