American imperialism during the early 1900s had numerous consequences, both positive and negative. On one hand, the United States gained economic power and expanded its influence globally through the acquisition of territories such as Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines. This allowed for increased trade opportunities and access to valuable resources. However, American imperialism also resulted in the exploitation of indigenous populations, loss of cultural identity, and violent conflicts with local resistance movements. The policy of imperialism led to backlash from other major world powers and strained diplomatic relations, ultimately contributing to heightened tensions leading up to World War I.
