Barack Obama is an American politician who served as the 44th President of the United States from 2009 to 2017. He is a member of the Democratic Party and was the first African American president in U.S. history. Prior to his presidency, Obama served as a U.S. Senator from Illinois and as a state senator in the Illinois State Senate. He is also a best-selling author and a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
