Re-read "Dear Jordan" poem from The Crossover. Write a letter making a request of someone you have a relationship such as a friend, using the same verse style as “Dear Jordan.” Your letter should do all of the following: Identify your relationship with the person you are writing to. Identify what you are asking of this person. Identify the emotion you feel toward the person you are writing to. Include at least 12–15 lines.

Dear friend,

Sister from another mister,
You've always been my listener,
Through thick and thin, you've been right there,
In laughter, in sorrow, you truly care.

You lift me up when I am down,
Your smile can turn my world around,
And now I come to you with a request,
Hoping you'll see it as my best.

I ask for your patience, your understanding,
For we both know life can be demanding,
But with your support, I know I can make it through,
With your love and strength, I'll always stay true.

I feel grateful for your presence in my life,
Through all the struggles, through all the strife,
So please, dear friend, lend me your hand,
And together, we'll conquer and make a stand.

With you by my side, I fear no battle,
Our bond is unbreakable, like steel in the saddle,
So thank you, friend, for all that you do,
And know that I'll always be there for you too.

Yours truly,
