I decided to complete a service project on cleaning up the local park because I noticed there was a lot of trash everywhere and it was making the park look messy.

Find out what is being done to address the problem. For example, if the problem is too many stray dogs, you would write your letter to the part of your city government that runs the local animal shelter.

What part of your local government is in charge of what you are completing your service project on? Remember this should be your local government for your community NOT state or federal government. How could you contact them?
Example sentence frames:
The part of my local government that is in charge of _______ is_______.
I can contact them at______ (list an address or email).

I can contact them at the Parks and Recreation Department located at 123 Main Street or through their email address: parksandrec.

Dear Department of Parks and Recreation,

I am writing to you because I have noticed that our local park is full of trash, and it's making the park look really messy and not as nice as it could be. I think this is a big issue for our community because the park is a place where families go to spend time together and have fun, and it's not enjoyable when there's trash everywhere. It's also not good for the environment and can be harmful to animals that live in the park. I believe that if we work together to clean up the park, it will make a big difference and help everyone enjoy the park more. I would really appreciate it if we could work together to make our park a cleaner and better place for everyone.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

For my community service project of cleaning up the local park, I talked with my mom about the idea. She agreed it was a great project and helped me figure out a plan. I can dedicate two hours each weekend for the next month to clean up the park. As for costs, I will need garbage bags and gloves, which my mom said she would buy for me. I will start the project next Saturday and continue until the end of next month. I am excited to make a positive impact on our community with this project!
