Feature
A map of Arkansas shows Lake Ouachita and six of its major rivers.
The Arkansas River runs southeast from the Oklahoma-Arkansas border to the Mississippi River. The Ouachita River begins near the Oklahoma-Arkansas border and runs east to Lake Ouachita before turning south toward Louisiana. The Buffalo River runs east through the north-central part of the state, where it meets the White River. The White River runs southeast from the northern part of the state to the Mississippi River. The Black River runs out of the northeast from Missouri due south to meet the White River. The Mississippi River runs along the entire eastern border of the state.

Lake Ouachita spans Montgomery and Garland Counties toward the central part of the state, but more west than east.
