Based on the flow map and what I have learned in class, I believe the most impactful innovation at this time was the steamboat. Firstly, the steamboat had a significant impact on transportation, allowing goods and people to be transported more efficiently and quickly. For example, the flow map shows that the steamboat increased the ability to trade with western territories and opened up new markets for farmers. Furthermore, the steamboat revolutionized the shipping industry, reducing the cost of shipping goods and creating new economic opportunities. As stated in the flow map, the steamboat also played a crucial role in the westward expansion, as it enabled settlers to easily travel along rivers and explore new territories.
