When checking your pulse, should you use your thumb?

No, it is generally not recommended to use your thumb when checking your pulse. The reason is that your thumb has its own pulse, which can interfere with an accurate reading. Instead, it is better to use your index and middle fingers to locate and assess your pulse. Place these two fingers gently on the inside of your wrist, just below the base of your thumb. You can also check your pulse on the side of your neck, just below the jawbone.
