Melissa feels sorry for herself when her brother Pip and his friend Freddie refuse to take her fishing with them. She decides to sit on the shore and wait for them to return so that she can see what all they have caught.
Pip and Freddie are all set to go fishing. They mock Melissa when she expresses her desire to go along with them, and refuse by saying that they cannot take her as they would have to do all the paddling and fishing.
Pip and Freddie believe that Melissa cannot help them fish and do not take her with them. However, when they return, they are surprised to find the beautiful castle Melissa has carved from the mud and admire her talent.
Melissa feels bored as she sits all alone on the shore waiting for her brother to return. She decides to build a mud castle so that she can prove to her brother Pip and his friend Freddie that she can build a better mud castle than them.
